Buffavento Castle in North Cyprus Kyrenia; The Buffavento Castle, which was originally constructed as a watchtower by the Byzantines and then converted into a castle by the Lusignans, is at a summit 950 metres from sea level. It controls a passage through the mountain range, and its crucial location used to allow fire signs to be observed from other castles at night. Its construction date is unknown
