Kyrenia Castle; The impressive Kyrenia Castle North Cyprus, still in perfect condition, on the eastern corner of the harbour to the northeast of the city, was built in the 7th century by the Byzantines in order to protect the city against Arab raids. Additional construction during Lusignan and Venetian periods further enlarged and fortified the Kyrenia castle in North Cyprus.
